The NHL rumour mill is heating up following a relatively calm September.
- The Brady Tkachuk rumour mill is cranking up once again. Ottawa has done and said nothing to suggest a desire to trade their cornerstone captain, but the rumblings continue nonetheless. Like his brother Matthew before him, rumours suggest Tkachuk's camp would look fondly on a move south of the border if the Sens continue to flounder.
- Rumours swirl around much of the Senators' core, and Brady is no exception. With four years left on his contract there's no immediate pressure to trade the asset, but patience in the Ottawa front office, as well as with the player, could begin to run out. The Senators cannot continue on with their well-paid core if the playoffs remain out of reach.
- Rumours continue to swirl around Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler as we begin the season. The Ducks are believed to be actively shopping the veteran blueliner, who is in the second to last year of his deal. Among the teams that have been linked to Fowler are the Blues, who have a void to fill after recently losing Torey Krug for the season. Fowler should be in high demand, and the Ducks might be wise to let the bidding war build ahead of the 2025 NHL trade deadline.
- Lots of rumblings around the Leafs, who are believed to be taking calls on defenseman Conor Timmins, Timothy Liljegren, and forwards Calle Jarnkrok and David Kampf. Too many NHL bodies for not enough spots, but injuries often solve these logjams quite quickly.
