The Coyotes' downward spiral will continue this offseason with the team's future in turmoil.
- With so much uncertainty about the Arizona Coyotes' future, the toll is being felt by fans and players alike.
- Among the names to watch this offseason out of Arizona are Clayton Keller and Lawson Crouse.
- Keller, who has emerged as a top tier winger despite the team getting worse around him, is unhappy with the direction (or lack thereof) of the franchise, and appears close to demanding a trade outright.
- Crouse's name has swirled for a few years. The young power forward has quietly emerged as a consistent contributor and will be highly sought after.
- Among the other names circulating through the rumour mill are goaltending Karel Vejmelka and forward Nick Schmaltz. Nobody appears to be untouchable, and many of these players may have asked for trades behind the scenes.
- Obviously, the 'Yotes will have to fill out a full roster somehow and clear the NHL salary floor. That may not be easy to quilt together this offseason as free agents look elsewhere amid concerns that the team might get moved out of Arizona.
- The Coyotes are at least tentatively expected to stay in Arizona for one more season, but could be sent elsewhere if a new arena deal in the greater Phoenix area can't be reached. It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out. With just over a month until free agency, things are about to heat up considerably.
