The player has informed Flames management that he has no desire to sign long-term in Calgary, paving the way to a trade. Calgary may have no choice but to make one happen with club-elected salary arbitration looming in the coming weeks - and a ruling that would lock in Tkachuk on a one year deal in Calgary. After losing Gaudreau for nothing, the Flames need to salvage some value here.
