NHL Rumour Report: Vegas talking Dadonov trade with two teams

At least two teams are talking trade with Vegas to help them escape their salary cap calamity.

- The Golden Knights continue to work towards an Evgenii Dadonov trade, despite welcoming the player back and intending to play him in upcoming games.

- Dadonov's money needs to come off the books in order for Vegas to activate defensemen Alec Martinez from long term injured reserve. Normally this type of cap crunch wouldn't be a problem for Vegas, but they badly need healthy bodies to battle their way back into a playoff spot in the West.

- Among the teams willing to acquire Dadonov are the Kraken and Coyotes - two teams that are out of the playoff picture and looking for future assets. Because the deadline has passed, Dadonov would be ineligible to play for them; a tough pill to swallow for a player who has become caught up in other people's mistakes.

- The teams looking to trade for Dadonov are believed to be after a first round draft pick at a minimum.

- Plenty of blame to go around, but the Golden Knights could be paying big for a mistake that could have been avoided with a bit more due diligence.
