The Blue Jackets are quietly shopping their top pending UFAs.
- Columbus continues to lurk in the weeds as a potential major player at this year's NHL trade deadline.
- Believed to be willing to do just about anything to improve their team for next year, the Jackets are expected to do a bit of buying and selling. But with their playoff hopes all but extinguished, a number of their pending UFAs are likely out the door before Monday at 3pm Eastern.
- Domi continues to generate interest from teams looking for a unique combination of grit and scoring touch. Among the teams believed to have shown interest are the Maple Leafs, Rangers, Avalanche, Capitals and Bruins.
- An early frontrunner in the bidding war seems to be the Capitals, who have remained fairly quiet thus far. Domi comes with a fairly rich 5.3 million dollar cap hit this year, but Columbus is believed to be willing to take back salary or work out a salary retention or three way trade with teams against the cap ceiling. Just another name to keep an eye on for Monday, especially once the top forwards come off the board.
