NHL Rumour Report: Vegas shockingly enters Fleury sweepstakes; other contenders surface

A somewhat stunning Marc-Andre Fleury update this afternoon.

- Pending UFA goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has been in the rumour mill for months on end as the Blackhawks prepare to sell at this year's trade deadline once again.

- There has been no shortage of teams linked to Fleury, including the Oilers, Capitals and Avalanche. It's believed that despite Fleury's limited trade protection, Chicago will try to move him only to a team of his choosing.

- This is where things gets weird: with Robin Lehner dealing with yet another injury, the Golden Knights are believed to have expressed interest in Fleury. If you recall, Fleury was uncerimoniously shoved out the door by Vegas in cap dump deal to Chicago, and it's believed he contemplated retirement. Would Fleury OK a move back to a team that tossed him aside? If he wants a shot at a Cup, there are fewer better landing spots.

- Vegas would have to do some serious cap gymnastics to make it work, and they will have plenty of competition for the services of the veteran netminder. The situation appears to be heating up quite rapidly - stay tuned.

- UPDATE: Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon denies the rumour. We'll see where it goes - still lots of time before the NHL trade deadline.
