Rumour Report: Rumour mill ramping up as NHL trade deadline approaches

There is a growing sense around the league that trade talks have picked up with the deadline just over three weeks away.

- We could be in for a pretty wild few weeks of NHL trade rumours. Buckle up.

- Several superstar forwards are believed to be on the block: Claude Giroux, JT Miller, Filip Forsberg, Brock Boeser, Tomas Hertl and potentially Joe Pavelski, to name a few. Teams continue to wonder about the availability of Mark Scheifele, Alex DeBrincat and Patrik Laine.

- Several stud defensemen could be up for grabs as well: John Klingberg, Jakob Chychrun, Hampus Lindholm, Mark Giordano, Rasmus RistolainenJosh Manson and Ben Chiarot are among the stellar 2022 crop. Some wonder if Ivan Provorov could get added to that list as well.

- In net, you have a number of fortune-altering goalies available. Marc-Andre Fleury, Aleksandar Georgiev, Braden Holtby and Joonas Korpisalo are among the best. Teams also continue to monitor the status of Carey Price, who remains hopeful to return this season. Quiet but growing rumblings in Winnipeg suggest Connor Hellebuyck could be getting frustrated with his situation - something to keep an eye on at the very least.

- And there's always hope of a blockbuster that nobody saw coming. Last year the hockey world was stunned by the last minute Anthony Mantha for Jakub Vrana blockbuster on deadline day.

- Cap space is always a concern these days when it comes to making deals, but teams have gotten increasingly creative with LTIR manoeuvring, salary retention and 3-way trades. Safe to say, it's going to be a pretty active few weeks in the lead up to the March 21st trade deadline.
