NHL Rumour Report: Jakob Chychrun trade chatter intensifies

Jakob Chychrun is expected to be one of the most coveted players at this year's NHL trade deadline.

- There have been points in the season where it sounded like a Chychrun trade was imminent. In recent weeks, it had started to sound like he was getting pulled off the market. It's sometimes a bit hard to read what's going on in Arizona.

- Their cornerstone blueliner is signed through 2024 on a very reasonable $4.5 million cap hit. Pretty much every team in the NHL would want that - which makes one wonder why the Coyotes are supposedly intent on moving him. Has he asked for a trade?

- The list of teams with interest continues to expand: the Kings, Bruins, Maple Leafs, Canucks and Panthers are all believed to be in the mix.

- As things stand, the Panthers are thought by some to be the frontrunner to land Chychrun. Trade discussions are rumoured to have revolved around draft picks, Owen Tippett and Spencer Knight. It's unclear if the Panthers have any desire to move on from their young goalie, even with Sergei Bobrovsky locked in long term.

- Reports have suggested that at least one team has already made an offer matching the offer price set by Arizona. Considering no trade has been made, the Coyotes are either unsure if they still want to trade Chychrun or waiting for the bidding war to intensify. Stay tuned.
