NHL Rumour Report: Leafs join list of 6 teams linked to Marc-Andre Fleury

The Marc-Andre Fleury sweepstakes continue to evolve.

- Pending UFA goalie Marc-Andre Fleury remains the top goalie available on the trade deadline market, and several teams are in the mix.

- As the play of Jack Campbell and Petr Mrazek continues to deteriorate, there is a growing belief that the Leafs are back in the market for someone who can stop the puck come playoff time.

- Rumblings around the league suggest a target could be Fleury. Other than Joonas Korpisalo, Braden Holtby and Alexander Georgiev, there aren't a ton of high calibre options. But with Jake Muzzin placed on LTIR, the Leafs may have a heap of cap space to put to good use.

- The Leafs won't be alone in their pursuit of Fleury. The Capitals, Bruins, Golden Knights, Oilers and Avalanche are believed to have inquired. The issue is, there just aren't many good fits for Fleury. He is reportedly disinterested in playing for the Capitals or Oilers, the Golden Knights are out if Lehner can play through his shoulder issue, and the Avalanche are hoping that the improved play of Darcy Kuemper will be enough for a deep run. The Bruins have two good if inexperienced options in Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman.

- Toronto has been rumoured to be heavily in on the rental defenseman market, but the play of their goalies could cause a dramatic shift of priorities in the coming weeks. And considering the mounting pressure on the organization to go on a playoff run of substance, management may have no other option.
