NHL Rumour Report: Connor Hellebuyck rumours surface

Reports suggest Connor Hellebuyck will be at the center of the Jets' offseason trade discussions.

- As the Jets find themselves slipping out of the playoff picture in a season they were expecting to compete, management has already begun plans for a major roster overhaul.

- Among the big names likely to be moved before the deadline are Paul Stastny and Andrew Copp, though more names are likely to surface in the coming weeks. Even Mark Scheifele's name has been out there.

- But an even bigger name has entered the rumour mill: Connor Hellebuyck. The 2020 Vezina winner has been a cornerstone for the Jets franchise for years, and it is indeed shocking to see his name out there. But reports suggest Hellebuyck will be at the center of discussions this summer as the team has a deep look at its core.

- Hellebuyck is thought to be frustrated with his situation, be it the Jets' lack of on ice success or a general struggle with Canada's COVID restrictions. Hellebuyck has been one of the most vocal critics of the Canadian and NHL COVID protocols this past two years and has spoken of the mental toll it has taken on him and his family.

- It's unclear if Hellebuyck has asked for a trade or if the Jets are simply looking for a roster overhaul. A franchise goalie in his prime isn't something teams give up on too readily, and I'm really not sure what the Jets would do to fill the void. Something to keep an eye on this trade deadline, if not the offseason.
