- General Managers around the NHL are beginning to take stock of their rosters with the season well under way. Buyers and sellers have begun to emerge, while trade talks that fell apart in the offseason are revived.
- Teams around the league watch the Taylor Hall situation in New Jersey continue to develop. The pending UFA winger has praised other players for heading to free agency, and has stated his desire to play for a winner. New Jersey still finds itself struggling to find consistency, so the next few months will be instrumental in determining which way this thing goes. Not helping things was Hall's recent outburst against Devils fans in a post-game interview. Hall would be a premier trade deadline target if he was made available. All indications are that GM Ray Shero will either sign or trade Hall before the deadline, refusing to risk losing him for nothing on July 1st.
- Prying quality defensemen away from a winning team is never easy, but the Buffalo Sabres continue to listen on several of their top blueliners. Rasmus Ristolainen could still be available despite recent indications that he's withdrawn his trade request, but names such as Colin Miller and Marco Scandella have surfaced in trade speculation as well.
- The Predators remain a team to keep an eye on, with Kyle Turris' name continuing to swirl in trade rumours. His contract may prove tough to move, though.
- The trade buzz around the LA Kings has been relatively quiet thus far, things should ramp up closer to the deadline. The usual suspects - Jonathan Quick, Tyler Toffoli, Alec Martinez, Jeff Carter, Kyle Clifford and Ilya Kovalchuk - are all likely to see their names in the trade market in the coming weeks and months.
- The trade market is ramping up once again with just over four months to go before the NHL trade deadline - and so is NHL Rumour Report. Make sure to follow NHL Rumour Report on Facebook and Twitter for the latest rumour updates!
