Plans could be put in motion to trade Matt Duchene and Mark Stone early next week.

- We should be getting clarity on the Stone and Duchene situations in the next day or two, with reports suggesting the Senators will ramp up trade talks with other teams this weekend if extensions with either player remain far off.
- Both Stone and Duchene are highly coveted pending UFA forwards that should net the Senators a sizeable haul at the deadline. The asking prices are believed to be a young NHLer, blue chip prospects and/or a first round pick.
- Stone has been linked to the Jets, Golden Knights and Flames, while Duchene is on the radar of Nashville, Winnipeg, Columbus and Buffalo. More teams are likely to surface in the hours ahead.
- Talks appear to have gone extremely quiet with Stone in particular, while discussions with Duchene are believed to be ongoing. Both players are looking for max deals of well over 8 million a season.
- The dial continues to point towards a trade for both players. Stone sits at 70% on the rumour board, while Duchene is at 65%. Both numbers should steadily rise this weekend and into next week. As two of the top players on the market they could very well be among the first dominoes to drop - and once that happens, all hell could break loose on the trade front.
