At least three teams are in on Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn is drawing interest and more in today's NHL Rumour Report update.
- Though it's not clear yet whether St. Louis have decided to move him, teams continue to kick tires on centerman Brayden Schenn. The Blues have let it be known that virtually everyone on their team is available for the right price, and the rumours have begun to swirl around the team's top players. Among the teams rumoured to be interested in Schenn are the Golden Knights, Penguins and Bruins. There aren't many teams that wouldn't like to get their hands on the elite pivot, who has two years left at a very reasonable $5 million. More contenders are likely to surface in the coming weeks, if indeed the Blues continue to entertain offers.
- The Sabres appear to be big game hunting ahead of the trade deadline. Among their rumoured targets: Charlie Coyle, Matt Duchene, Mats Zuccarello and Jakob Silfverberg.
- Wayne Simmonds is no stranger to the NHL rumour mill, but with the Flyers sliding well out of playoff contending, the gritty pending UFA winger is likely to generate attention as we get closer to the trade deadline. A trio of Canadian teams are rumoured to have interest: the Maple Leafs, Flames and Jets. Many more teams are likely to kick tires on Simmonds, who the Flyers haven't quite yet given up hopes to re-sign.
- The dial continues to point towards a Matt Duchene trade with the clock ticking in Ottawa. GM Pierre Dorion plans to meet with Duchene's camp some time this weekend, so we could get a better idea of which way this is headed relatively soon. With the Sens out of the playoff mix, they'll need to know soon whether an extension is a real possibility. After spending big assets to bring in Duchene from Colorado, there's no way Dorion lets him walk out the door for nothing.
