The NHL rumour mill continues to heat up ahead of the December trade freeze.
- Rumours continue to swamp the St. Louis Blues, with star number one defenseman and captain Alex Pietrangelo entering trade conversations. The 28 year old - who remains sidelined with a hand injury - has one year remaining on his pact with the Blues. As the team continues to flounder, the core of the team finds itself in the rumour mill with increasing regularity. Veterans such as Vladimir Tarasenko, Jake Allen, Colton Parayko and Robby Fabbri have also seen their names appear in rumour columns, while prospects Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou and Jake Walman have been bandied about as well. A few weeks ago we saw a report that the Blues were 'open for business'. Now we know that includes core parts of the team.
- The Maple Leafs have already been linked to Pietrangelo in trade talks, but many more teams are likely to surface in the coming weeks.
- The list of suitors for Minnesota Wild centerman Charlie Coyle continues to grow. A few weeks ago we learned that the Bruins were interested in the two way pivot, and now rumours suggest the Senators and Canadiens could be interested as well. While it was previously reported that the Wild were 'listening' on Coyle, it now appears the player is being actively shopped. Coyle has another year on his deal before he is eligible for unrestricted free agency.
- The Ducks are looking for help throughout their roster - last week they were after another defenseman, now it sounds like they're looking to add some more scoring. The Ducks are one of many veteran teams looking to give their team a leg up in a messy Western Conference playoff picture.
- Could a Sergei Bobrovsky-Philadelphia Flyers reunion be in the cards? Rumours suggest the Flyers are ready to make a big pitch to the pending UFA netminder on July 1st - if and when he makes it that far.
