Several big names remain out there on the trade market, while a number of interesting options are available on the free agent market.
- Here's what's left after a crazy few weeks in June and July. There are still plenty of big name players available at all positions.
- Top forwards potentially available via trade: Matt Duchene, James van Riemsdyk, Gabriel Landeskog, Alex Galchenyuk, Evander Kane, James Neal, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Ryan Spooner.
- Top forwards available via UFA: Alex Radulov, Patrick Marleau, Ilya Kovalchuk, Drew Stafford, Jussi Jokinen, Jaromir Jagr, Thomas Vanek, David Desharnais.
- A decent amount of defensemen are available via trade as well, but it's always hard to meet the asking price. The players available on the UFA market are likely to get scooped up soon.
- Top defensemen potentially available via trade: Tyson Barrie, Chris Tanev, Jason Demers, Jacob Trouba, Luca Sbisa.
- Top defensemen available via UFA: Andrei Markov, Johnny Oduya, Cody Franson, Brian Campbell, Dennis Seidenberg, Dennis Wideman, Roman Polak.
- The goaltending market has dried out almost entirely. You won't find much on the free agent market, though there are some potential 40+ game netminders available via trade. With very few spots still needing to be filled, not much more is expected to happen on this front.
- Top goalies potentially available via trade: Jaroslav Halak, Petr Mrazek and/or Jimmy Howard, Michael Hutchinson, Andrew Hammond.
- Top goalies available via UFA: Nothing left, really. Some 3rd stringer options like Jhonas Enroth.
