A new frontrunner appears to have emerged in the Sami Vatanen Sweepstakes and the Habs are up to something in today's Rumour Report.
- The Canadiens seem poised to make significant trades this offseason - the first of which may come within the week. Following last week's rumour suggesting an Alex Galchenyuk trade is "likely" this offseason, reports new suggest a Nathan Beaulieu trade is "very likely" to happen on or before this weekend. GM Marc Bergevin is on the clock, and it appears he's going to do everything he can to reshape his roster.
- Are the Lightning the frontrunner to land Ducks defenseman Sami Vatanen? Signs continue to point to Jonathan Drouin as the piece Anaheim covets in return for their young blueliner. That looks like a win for both teams. The Maple Leafs, Devils, Sabres and Stars are also in the mix.
- The wait for trades continues just days before the June 17th expansion draft deadline. And some believe Vegas is ready to drag this thing out for as long as possible. It's advantageous for GM George McPhee to wait for teams to reveal who they're planning on protecting before making any trades. Why show your hand when you can wait for everyone else to?
