Trade offers are pouring in for the top picks in the draft, and trade chatter is heating up around Evander Kane and Mike Smith in today's Rumour Report.
- To nobody's shock, the Devils and Flyers are getting calls on the top two picks in this year's draft. With Nico Hischier and Nolan Patrick standing above the fray, teams outside the top two will be pushing hard to get in. It doesn't sound like either team is eager to move those picks, but Dallas at number three is another question entirely.
- Rumours have suggested for months that Evander Kane and the Buffalo Sabres are likely to part ways this offseason. The 25 year old winger is slated to hit free agency next summer, and the Sabres don't want to lose him for nothing. The Kings have emerged as a frontrunner in recent days, but the Ducks, Wild, Predators, Islanders and Canucks have been linked to Kane as well.
- Previous reports suggested the Coyotes had rejected any notion that they were willing to deal goaltender Mike Smith. This didn't make a ton of sense, considering Arizona are rebuilding and could get an asset (and cap space) for a veteran like Smith. Now it sounds like they're at least listening to offers. No teams have emerged as interested just yet, but we know the Flyers, Jets, Flames, Islanders, Red Wings and Golden Knights are in the market for goaltending.
