Rumour Report: Major moves expected today

A flurry of trade activity is expected with the expansion draft trade freeze going into effect later today.

  • Though today's 3pm roster freeze will be brief, and many trades will occur after it lifts, there's still expected to be a bit of movement beforehand. Here are a few names to keep an eye on.
  • Jonas Brodin - Not entirely clear whether he gets moved to Vegas or somewhere else like Montreal or Long Island. Wild will have to make a painful decision before the bell sounds.
  • Jordan Eberle - Lots of talk, and some think he moves today. The Isles and Blues seem the most interested.
  • Travis Hamonic - This one has gained a lot of steam in the past 48 hours or so. The Canadiens, Avalanche and Oilers are in the mix.

  • Dion Phaneuf - Seen as the player most likely dealt, if the Sens indeed decide to go that route. They may just grit their teeth and let Vegas take Marc Methot or someone else.
  • Sami Vatanen - May not happen before the expansion draft, but teams are pushing hard. Tampa Bay, New Jersey and Buffalo are in the mix.
  • Evander Kane - Buffalo may not feel the pressure to make this move today, but if they do the Kings should be considered the frontrunner.
  • Nathan Beaulieu - Still no indication who's interested, but reports have suggested he's likely on the way out.
  • Alex Galchenyuk - Lots of smoke here. Colorado, Minnesota and Anaheim are among the teams with interest.
  • Derek Stepan - This rumour keeps building momentum the closer we get to the deadline. The Coyotes and Wild have had interest for quite some time.
  • Marc-Andre Fleury - Sense seems to be that he's headed to Vegas via the expansion draft. Only question now is, do Vegas keep him or flip him? Calgary would sure like to know.
  • Mark Pysyk - Bonus one here. There's been some speculation Florida is trying to move him. Toronto?
  • I think we're going to see a bunch of trades that come out of nowhere in the lead-up to 3 pm. Stay tuned throughout the day by following NHL Rumour Report on Twitter.
