Rumour Report: Leading contenders for Duchene, Drouin, Landeskog, Trouba + more

A busy month ahead is likely to produce blockbuster trades. In today's Rumour Report we look at the contenders for Jonathan Drouin, Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog.

Matt Duchene
The Avs pivot is more likely than not to be shipped out some time this offseason. The Hurricanes, rumoured to have significant interest, seem most able to accommodate Colorado's desire for a high end defensemen, with names such as Noah Hanifin and Justin Faulk surfacing in rumours. The Islanders sound like a team very active on this front as well. A load of other teams kicked tires on Duchene before the deadline, including the Senators, Ducks, Canadiens, Islanders, Maple Leafs, Blues, Penguins, Blackhawks, Predators and Blue Jackets. New contenders are likely to emerge in the offseason as salary cap pressures are lifted.

Gabriel Landeskog
This is one harder to handicap, as no clear frontrunner ever emerged leading up to the deadline. The Ducks and Bruins seemed to show moderate levels of interest, while the Kings, Jets, Ducks, Senators and Maple Leafs explored the opportunity. Trading both Duchene and Landeskog would leave the Avs frighteningly shallow up front, so it's possible only one of them gets dealt.

Jonathan Drouin
The Drouin sweepstakes got revitalized with reports suggesting the winger may be the odd man out this summer. Between cap pressures and salary demands, Drouin might not fit into what the Lightning are trying to build. He's also a key piece that teams willing to trade defensemen would look at. St. Louis, Anaheim, Nashville and Minnesota were frontrunners when Drouin was shopped a year ago, but that landscape may well change. The Hurricanes, Senators, Canadiens and Stars also showed varying degrees of interest.
