Rumour Report: Ryan, Barrie, Murray, Miller + more

A few new names enter the rumour mill and a couple old rumours get new life in today's Rumour Report.

  • A new name has emerged in the rumour mill: Blue Jackets defenseman Ryan Murray. The 2nd overall pick in 2012 has had a number of injuries that may have held back his development into a high end defenseman. This seems like a bad sell low situation for Columbus.
  • If Ryan Miller wants to stay in Vancouver, there's apparently an offer on the table. It's believed Miller prefers to be close to his wife in Los Angeles, making the three California teams obvious options. But with the volume of goalies entering the market this summer, Miller would be wise not to delay his decision much longer.
  • We're all still trying to piece together Vegas' expansion draft plan, but some believe they have their eyes on Senators winger Bobby Ryan. He doesn't come cheap at 7.25 million for the next five years, but he's got the scoring touch that will be hard to find in free agency. And though they'll likely take many young and cheap players, they still need to get to the cap floor. A big contract or two won't be a death sentence for the new franchise.

  • Remember the Tyson Barrie rumours from last summer? It sounds like he's still available. It was believed the Avalanche and Barrie's relationship had soured to the point where a trade was inevitable, but they eventually came to a 4 year agreement. The Oilers, Canucks, Jets, Leafs and Islanders have been rumoured destinations in the past.
