Rumour Report: Rumoured contenders for Spooner, Kovalchuk, Dadonov + more

Rumours continue to grow around Ryan Spooner, Ilya Kovalchuk, Evgeny Dadonov and the Washington Capitals.

  • Rumours cropped up during the regular season suggesting the Bruins were listening to offers on pending RFA Ryan Spooner. It appears as though that continues to be the case, with the Canucks, Golden Knights and Devils as rumoured destinations. The Sharks, Hurricanes and Islanders have shown interest in the past as well. The Bruins have a lot of money allocated to their forward core, and will probably have to fork out a lot to extend David Pastrnak. Dealing Spooner now while his value is high makes quite a lot of sense.
  • Top scoring KHLers on expiring/flexible deals are highly sought after by NHL clubs, and this year is no different...
  • KHLer Vadim Shipachev has agreed to a two year pact with the Golden Knights, and rumours suggest Evgeny Dadonov could be the next one over. The Habs, Golden Knights and Panthers are rumoured possibilities.
  • The Kovalchuk sweepstakes are just starting to take shape, with the Golden Knights, Canadiens and Devils cropping up as potential landing spots.

  • With the Capitals on the brink of elimination, some speculate that changes this offseason might go deeper than the obvious pending UFAs TJ Oshie, Kevin Shattenkirk, Karl Alzner, Justin Williams and Daniel Winnik. If the Caps do indeed bow out in round two yet again, an organizational review from top to bottom will likely take place. With plenty of cap space becoming available this offseason, expect massive changes to the way this team looks and plays.
