Rumours have surrounded big guns Tyson Barrie, Semyon Varlamov, Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog for the past few seasons. The latter two, it seems, are being dangled out there in an effort to improve the Avalanche blueline right now.
The latest rumoured discussion involves the Boston Bruins, who apparently talked to the Avs regarding Gabriel Landeskog. The Avs want Brandon Carlo, but the Bruins declined and offered a package of prospects and picks. UPDATE: Add the Kings and Penguins to the list of teams with interest. In the past, rumours have linked Landeskog to the Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks.
The Avs appear to be fielding calls on Matt Duchene as well - most recently from the New York Islanders.
Colorado has holes at just about every position - and it's hard to see how trade core pieces with another team gets them over the top. But those of us who follow NHL rumours on a daily basis are greatly looking forward to this trade market busting open. It's been a slow start. Make it happen, Colorado.
