Pacioretty trade rumours sound awfully familiar

It's hard to imagine the Canadiens moving out another core piece so soon after the PK Subban trade, but here we are.

Rumours emerged in the last week or so that the Canadiens might be considering trading captain and star forward Max Pacioretty to help shore up their blueline. He's not asking to be moved, but it's believed he might look favourably upon a change in scenery from the pressure filled environment of Montreal.

Pacioretty has faced criticism for his leadership or lack thereof, but he's been a productive player for the Habs nonetheless.

This is starting to sound a lot like the Jason Spezza situation in Ottawa. Spezza too was deemed to be a so-so choice for captain despite putting up solid numbers for the Senators. We all know how that ended - Spezza was eventually dealt to the Dallas Stars on July 1st, 2014.

Could another Canadian team be slowly driving their captain out? Seems like this story is far from over. Pacioretty makes his debut on the trade rumour board at 20%.
