First domino to fall? Holland, Hanzal and the Coyotes

The Arizona Coyotes have reportedly acquired Peter Holland from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Holland is a depth center who can chip in a bit offensively. He's probably not a number two, but he could slide in as a number three (or four) and not look out of place. He wasn't getting that ice time with the Leafs.

The move is particularly interesting because reports continue to suggest that the Coyotes are planning on trading incumbent number one center Martin Hanzal at some point this season. Hanzal is a pending UFA and it doesn't look like they'll be able to extend him. Without Hanzal, the Coyotes would be scarily thin at center. Holland helps paper over that problem for now.

Hanzal is considered to be one of the top pending UFA forwards available on the trade market. If the Coyotes plan on selling him well before the deadline, that's going to set off alarm bells around the league.

Among those rumoured to be interested in Hanzal are the St. Louis Blues and Montreal Canadiens.
