2017 NHL Trade Deadline: early rumour preview

The NHL season may have just gotten underway, but it's never too early to begin looking ahead at what trades might happen when the calendar turns to 2017. While the deadline is set for March 1st, 2017, moves usually happen several weeks in advance of that date as teams scramble to get their trade targets.

Here's a look at the big names potentially available:

Top pending UFAs that could be traded

Kevin Shattenkirk, D, St. Louis - He's supposedly available, but the asking price has to be huge.
Ben Bishop, G, Tampa Bay - Do the Bolts really move him in season?
Martin Hanzal, C, Arizona - If the Coyotes keep stumbling, he could be the top forward traded.
Dmitry Kulikov, D, Buffalo
Steve Mason, G, Philadelphia
Michal Neuvirth, G, Philadelphia
Dennis Wideman, D, Calgary - Definitely available, but price tag hurts.
Mark Streit, D, Philadelphia
