Trouba's future in Winnipeg up in the air? Rumours emerge

Trouble seems to be brewing in Winnipeg as stud defenseman Jacob Trouba remains without a contract just weeks before training camp. The Jets don't seem eager to meet the substantial contract demands the 22 year old RFA has allegedly made.

While the Jets front office remains confident that they'll have Trouba under contract before camp kicks off, the clock is ticking. It was initially believed Trouba was fine in Winnipeg, others aren't so sure he wants to stick around.

If the Jets were to put him on the market, there would be no shortage of suitors. Amongst those expressing interest are the Avalanche, Coyotes, Islanders, Red Wings, Bruins and Oilers.

It's quite possible both sides are merely posturing to get the best deal possible, but the spectre of a damaged relationship, if not a trade, continues to grow as we inch closer to the regular season.
